Simple Spring Enjoyment 04/04/10

Today’s agenda: Riding a bicycle, laying in the grass, soaking in the sun, watching a ladybug.

The best things in life are free, n’est-ce pas? :)

Isn’t it amazing how perfectly formed ladybirds are. I bought that Po Campo bag for my sister. I have it in green but the beige and blue one is my favourite. It looks great on your Betty Foy.

I just bought the Po Campo bag and I love it!

Thanks to Trisha for getting embeddable comments back to LGRAB :)

Loving the PoCampo bag! It looks great with Betty.

I just came back from a wonderful day of bicycling around with a friend. Not much of green grass, and cold enough to want to have brought my wool mitts, but nice nevertheless. Lots of people out and about biking and walking along the river. I just hope it warms up a bit so the leaves will come out.

What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday!

After a random ladybug infestation in Boston a few months ago, I sort of started to think they were kind of gross. Still, the one you photographed looks pretty cute :)

In Lithuania, they have a sort of superstition that ladybugs carry your prayers to God.

They also have different verbs for “to die” between humans and animals, but they use the human verb for bees.

no lady bugs on my ride, but I found myself smiling on a number of occasions today. nothing like two wheels, warm sunshine, and a little wind at your back.

Love the handbag! And it attaches to your bike rack too? That’s awesome!

    • http://letsgorideabike.com Dottie

Yup, it’s made to attach to my rack, very cool. I’ll do a full post on it one of these days.

Ladies, perhaps I’ve just missed this on your blog, but have you ever written any advice on bike-buying? I am plodding around on my old mountain bike from high school, and it’s not very comfortable. I’d love to trade up this summer. I love your bikes and have looked at Pashleys, Rivendells, etc. online, but I don’t think any shop in my city sells them. Any suggestions for those of us who have to make do with an everyday bike store? How to distinguish between models that seem similar to the not-particularly-informed? Thank you!

    • http://letsgorideabike.com Dottie

Hm, I guess we have not. Those closest we’ve come is the recent post about affordable bikes. We’ll make this a project.

I’m kind of longing for those days – it’s been raining almost constantly for about 3 weeks here, so there’s no laying on the grass leisurely, nor much leisurely riding of the bikes. Mostly I’ve been just trying to get where I’m going and get out of the wet. We’ve taken a couple of opportunities to ride out and get dinner after work during a sun-break, or breakfast on a weekend, but other than that, there’s not much lounging outdoors here yet :)

    Here’s hoping!

  • Scott

That is exactly what I did yesterday too.

lucky! what a lovely way to spend a day!

  • Scott

It looks like that ladybug is crawling on a natural fiber garment. Either you or Mr. Dottie knows how to ride in style.

Definitely the best thing in life are the smallest, simplest things : ) I saw my first ladybird in my office few days ago! She must have flown in and found a little resting point on my computer, made my day! Weather has been a bit mad here, not yet sunny or warm enough for a ride to the park boooooo! Soon though soon! xxx

  • David

Seems I’m always just seeing those darn asian beetles. What’s the difference between those and ladybugs? I’ll just google it I guess. But those things bite.

Ah, that ladybug is cute. Cute as……a…..bug….

    • http://letsgorideabike.com Dottie

      lol :)

and p.s. i have no one who will understand as you will, so i am compelled to tell you here–my boyfriend bought and installed a brooks saddle on my bicycle while i was away on spring break! wooohoo!

    • http://letsgorideabike.com Dottie

That is def a cause for celebration! Enjoy.

May I say how adorable the term “ladybirds” is, instead of “ladybugs.” At first I thought Jennifer’s use of the word was a typo, but now I see this must be a British thing. :)

Looks like a gorgeous day and your mission was achieved! Great photos.
