Thanks to the holiday, Mr. Dottie and I were off work today. That doesn’t mean we didn’t commute, though. In celebration of our friend Elizabeth’s birthday, we accompanied her on her ride to work. Good thing she left early, because we spent lots of time goofing around and stopping for cappuccino. That’s how we roll, especially when it’s 80 degrees outside for the second day in a row.

Happy Birthday, E! Remember, you only turn 29 twice.

I hope everyone else had a good Friday :)

80 degrees in Chicago? Amazing! These photos are ridiculously adorable!

You guys are crazy (in the nicest possible way). May I ask though if there is a great need to apply sunscreen there? No Australian cyclists who I know have managed to retain the porcelain complexions you have over there—except perhaps for my wife, but she is a sunblock zealot, go bless her.

I ended up getting off work earlier than I thought, so I came home, dropped off my bag, ran to the photo shop to get some film developed, and then just took off to meander randomly. About an hour later, after intermittent rain, sun, and 40mph winds, I ended up back home, breathing a little heavily, a little sweaty, and feeling wonderful. Now I’m uploading a bazillion photos to flickr :)

I can’t believe it’s 80 degrees there! It’s still in the 50′s here and dumping rain :) Happy Spring!

@chelsea – Aw, thanks! Means a lot coming from you, with your keen eye for the adorable.

@Wilbur – Yes, I burn easily and have to wear sunblock every day. My shoulders already burned a bit yesterday while reading in the park. That said, in Chicago we’ve all been covered head-to-toe for the past 5 months. :)

@Dave – Cool, heading over to see your pictures!

Thank you all for the b-day wishes! Always great to celebrate with friends AND a bike ride. Good thing we went today cuz it’s supposed to rain and be chillier on Saturday…

Dottie – you and Greg are adorable! I like your camera. ;-)

  • David

Great pic of you and Mr. Dottie! It was 80 there? By Lake Michigan in April??? I love climate change, nothing like the “convienent truth”.

    E is 29, she’s just a baby.

    cute, cute dress!
AND, mr. dottie looks A LOT like paul rudd in that first picture. which is a good thing :)

Beautiful pictures, and your dress is very appropriate. I see that we had a similar idea today re “bike love” – though my version is more pornographic : (

Your top photo captures exactly the romance and breezy free-spirit of cycling!

Aww, what a nice way to celebrate your friend’s birthday with a refreshing bike ride :) and what a nice place to bike. The bike path is so wide, we have none of the sort in Hawaii.
And I love the add of the tulip photo, so pretty! It works well with the pastel colors in the bikes and your clothes :)

Snow here, so we had to cancel riding in Yellowstone with family and friends. Grrr . . .

Are those bars on Elisabeth’s bike a pair of stokers – facing forward? I had a set of those on a Fuji fixed-gear, alas, they weren’t pink!
    Happy birthday E!

    Milo.

Hi Milo – thanks for the b-day wishes. The bars are the Urban Pursuit Bullhorns from Soma: http://store.somafab.com/sourpubar.html
I like the pink bar tape – nice touch (courtesy add-on of my friend Alfredo).

I suspect we may have the same denim jacket. H&M?

I was in bike withdrawal the whole time I was on vacation. Every time my feet hurt because I had been walking all day long. But I winced every time I saw the variety of cyclists. In D.C. there was pretty much only one kind. Spandex & reflective stripes. Bring it on!

Though I am happy there were some cyclists, I was just expecting more, particularly with the lack of snow and sand…
