Those are incredible photographs, especially the first one!

PS: Is your Brooks saddle honey or brown?

    • http://letsgorideabike.wordpress.com dottie

Thanks! The saddle is honey, though it looks a bit darker than usual in these pictures.

I love these pictures! They perfectly capture how fun and elegant riding a bike can be! You look wonderful for the 4th and I hope you have a fun day today! S.

    hi dottie. beautiful photo’s!!
i’ve been wanting to ask; chicago is a wonderfully flat city and the oma is really designed for flat cities and is a great replacement for a car so am wondering why you got a new bike (betty is beautiful too). are you retiring the oma? i saw on some old posts that you were in need of a new bike and wasn’t sure why so didn’t know if this new bike is replacing your oma. i don’t see as many posts about oma so wasn’t sure.

    have a wonderful 4th.

Hi Melissa, I still ride Oma half the time. I got Betty for some variety, like when I want to go fast or ride over 10 miles or if the wind’s really bad (a harsh headwind is like a hill that never ends).

      • Melissa Beaudette

headwinds are brutal. love the idea of 2 bikes instead of a car. awesome!

  • cherry

Beautiful photos!! I have that same helmet, and absolutely love it!

You look gorgeous! WHERE did you thrift that dress; now I’m regretting that we didn’t have/make the time to cruise the stores in Wicker Park.

    • http://letsgorideabike.wordpress.com dottie

At a thrift store in Wicker Park, actually. I can’t remember which one; it was three years ago with Tanya. We’ll hit them up next time you’re in town!

    Cute!

Could you do a post on women’s bike helmets? I’m bored of my plain black one and looking for something more fun/stylish. So many of your photos feature helmet-free riders, but I am a helmet devotee (especially after seeing the helmet of a friend who had a bike accident. Her head was fine, the helmet was not.)

I’d love to see some helmet options– and more photos featuring girls with bikes and helmets!

I am currently trying to get a friend who is in Europe to check these Danish-made bike helmets out for me: http://www.yakkay.com/

    • http://letsgorideabike.wordpress.com dottie

Thanks! The bike is a Betty Foy from Rivendell, a California company.
