Divvy Update

Divvy is a real part of Chicago culture now.

The majority of Chicago’s Divvy bike share stations are now installed.  The map below shows the active stations in blue and the planned stations in yellow.

This means that there is a Divvy station a couple of blocks from anywhere I want to go.  I’ve been taking advantage of this at least once or twice a week.  The routine is simple: walk up to a Divvy bike, check the tires (only once have I found a flat tire), throw my bag in the front rack, adjust the seat to my height and release the bike with my key fob.

Then I’m off, happily biking to my destination!

I am bound to get a membership eventually, but it would be so much more useful if it went just a little bit further to my neighborhood – and I don’t even live in the boonies! (Avondale) As it is, I have to walk a mile and a half to Logan Square to get to the nearest station. Sigh.

Divvy is so great. I’m using it 3 or 4 times a week. Definitely feel I’ve gotten $75 worth of value already.

Do you carry your helmet with you in case of Divvying? I’d like to use Divvy, but I think the convenience factor would be undermined by my insistence on always wearing a helmet!

Was just on the Divvy site–didn’t realize members had to dock every 30 min or pay extra like with day passes! Has this ever been a problem for you?
