One Less Minivan!

A couple of Sundays ago, my Women-Who-Bike and Brunch group met up for a lovely picnic at the Logan Square Farmer’s Market.  Summer picnics are the best – I love sampling all the delicious food everyone brings.

My friend Ash, who writes about some of her bike adventures at One Less Minivan, was there with her two daughters and badass bike set up.  She has a Joe Bike bakfiets fitted with a baby carseat in the front and a child’s seat in the back.

Baby is strapped in and ready to go!

A happy flower smiles at following drivers.

P is serious about her helmet.  :-)

Getting ready…

And they’re off!

You can read the details about Ash’s set-up at her cheekily titled, “And it’s not even a death trap.”

Thanks to all the cool women who came out!  See you in August.  :-)

It’s funny that you posted this today, because I just set up a new non-death trap system last night that involved stapling, erm, bolting a bobike mini seat into the box so the big kid just squeeze back in. It has replaced what may have been an actual death trap set up that I used on the Tour de Fat bike parade. Baby started the parade upright and ended sideways with one arm and one leg over the side of the box.

Ash’s bike setup is great. We were picnicking next to y’all and I pointed it out to my out-of-town friends, who loved it.

Love the Ash-mobile! Sorry I couldn’t make the picnic. Hopefully I’ll be able to make the August event. Picnic again?

The last photo of Ash and her daughters riding away is too cute! Great location for a picnic – thanks for organizing.

The picnic looks like great fun and Ash is so inspiring! I’m always interested in seeing other people’s cargo bikes/kid carrying contraptions.
